Vending Is Great...If You've Got a Plan

For magical folks, that plan ought to include both the mundane and the magical - they're intertwined, just like the rest of our lives

As a vendor, you need to know a lot of things...

  • Finding Events

  • Applying to Events

  • Displaying Your Products and Services

  • Taking Payments

  • Money Magic

  • Manifesting Success

  • And More

I'm Janet Callahan.

With over 35 years of vending experience across multiple product types and events, and over 25 years of magical experience, I can help guide you in the right direction.

We'll cover everything listed above, and you'll get lots of individual support to help make your business magical and successful.

In this 8 week program, you'll have a workbook for all your notes, a discussion group to meet and work with other participants (networking is a huge part of business success), 8 group coaching calls with me (recorded in case you miss them), and I'll answer questions posed in the group with specific recommendations.

We'll be starting January 5th, 2025, for the live workshop. Each week's call will be archived in the course space. Your workbook and other documents will be posted here as well. We'll also have office hours twice a week for questions.

Yes, I Want In!

The base price for this course is $197.

That said, the world is a mess right now, and the reality of the current US economy is that it is unjust - who we are, where we live, and where we came from actually matter more in terms of what the outcome is for us, and how economically secure we are, than anything else. I strongly believe in sliding scale pricing as a tool for economic justice, and for a lot of folks who are just starting out in business, access matters a lot. Taking a page from Alexis J. Cunningfolk and others, I offer the following background for choosing your place on the scale:

Sliding scales are a reasonable way to balance what my time and energy in this program are worth, and what I need to get paid to continue offering programs, and the reality that economic status often gets in the way of people getting the products, services, and information they need. For sliding scales to work, we have to come to the table with integrity and an ability to be comfortable with complexity. There are a limited number of slots at the lower end of the scale - if you choose to take one of those slots when you could easily afford to pay more, you are keeping others out of the program (and karma is unlikely to be your friend). Note that word "easily" - there's a difference between making a sacrifice to pay for something, and paying for it being a hardship. Keep this in mind while making your choice.

Choosing to pay more means that I am more able to make sliding scales like this available in the future, and more able to make programs accessible to those with the least resources.

Consider paying less on the scale if you:

-are supporting children or have other dependents

-have significant debt

-have medical expenses not covered by insurance

-are eligible for public assistance

-have immigration-related expenses

-are an elder with limited financial support

-are an unpaid community organizer

-are a returning citizen who has been denied work due to incarceration history

-experience discrimination in hiring or pay level

-are descended from enslaved people, or from Native Americans or other marginalized Indigenous cultures

Consider paying more on the scale if you:

-own the home you live in

-have investments, retirement accounts, or inherited money

-travel for recreation

-have access to family money and resources in times of need

-work part time or are unemployed by choice, including unemployment due to full-time school in a degree-earning program

-have a relatively high degree of earning power due to level of education (or gender and racial privilege, class background, etc.), keeping in mind that if you have this ability to earn a living and choose not to work, that's still a choice

There are 2 slots available at the 1/4 price, 4 available at 1/2 price, and an unlimited number at the standard price or above. I will update this page as the slots are filled.
